Flammable liquids

Flammable liquids are liquids with a flash point of not more than 93 °C. The GHS sorts them into four categories by flash point and initial boiling point, with Category 1 the most hazardous.

What it means

The liquid gives off vapor that can ignite with air near a spark, flame or hot surface. Vapors are usually heavier than air and can travel along floors to a distant ignition source. The lower the flash point, the more easily the liquid ignites.

What to do

Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces. Keep containers closed and grounded or bonded when transferring, use explosion-proof equipment, store in a cool well-ventilated place, and use the extinguishing media named on the SDS.

This is general guidance for the class. Your product's safety data sheet takes precedence.
